Movement + Compensation
Recognize changes in balance, coordination, movement, and familiar work—and consider how those changes may relate to the demands of the work.
ACADEMY · EQUINE PROFESSIONALS · TRAINERS + COACHES
Education for trainers and coaches who want to recognize meaningful changes in movement, behavior, and performance, consider them in context, and ask better questions about what may be influencing the work.
THE WORK REVEALS INFORMATION
A change in bend, balance, rhythm, transitions, willingness, or coordination does not automatically tell us why something is happening. It does give us information worth noticing. The Art of Seeing helps trainers and coaches observe those changes more precisely, recognize patterns over time, and consider the larger context before deciding what the horse needs from the training.
Recognize changes in balance, coordination, movement, and familiar work—and consider how those changes may relate to the demands of the work.
Notice changes in willingness, reactivity, attention, or behavior without immediately assigning a cause, and consider what changes when environment, workload, training, or other influences change.
Recognize when a training question can be explored through the work and when the pattern suggests that another part of the horse’s professional team should be part of the conversation.
Communicate clear observations with owners, veterinarians, farriers, bodyworkers, saddle fitters, and other professionals so the team has better information to work with.
